Documents and content are the lifeblood of any organization, or Government and its citizens. They are used to communicate Government strategy internally, capture knowledge, store critical information, coordinate activities, measure results and communicate information externally to citizens.
Documents are equally important in business whether in the form of an aircraft specification or legal contract. What is critical is to be able to share these documents across organizations without being tied to the technology, strategy, pricing and decisions of a single supplier. Also, citizens need to be able to access content without having a format and technology imposed on everyone.
The Open Document Format is designed to address these short-term and long-term issues. Alfresco supports ODF native formats and is designed to support long-term archival and records management.
